so it's been a while. we just finished an initial mix on a new song. it's actually a co-write, believe it or not. the music is ours, the poetic is not. the poetic is a heavy lyric.

working on new material. excited. though it's draining emotionally. this is obviously heavier stuff than the accidental e.p. that we've yet to properly release, though it's been in circulation and hundreds of people have heard one song or another off it, either via the web, theatre, etc. so we should probably post it soon.

by the way, we have a website now, which is where it'll hypothetically be posted:

hello after absence,

we're working hard on follow-up to accidents, two songs so far, heartstills and oceanography. gentler, beautiful songs, landscapes.

hopefully bits and bytes will surface.

so i'm back in montreal. we still haven't properly gotten "Accidents" out, hopefully soon, although a lot of you probably have heard it already. thanks to all who voted for the songs on zed and have kept us in the top20 there. if you haven't voted, then you should..

we got together today to start work on the next mini-release - 2 to 4 songs, as usual. and the songs we're working on now are "Incidental" and "Sandbox"... sounds interesting. might be a bit of a paranoiac thing, this next one.

hopefully "Accidents" will be up when we figure out server issues - it's just a matter of hosting. i can't even post pictures of us writing today because nowhere to put it up for the time being..

alright, off to sing or something.

the ep was completed today. it might not be until august that we'll have all the artwork and proper wav files posted. (we do intend to make it available completely free of charge.)

during recording today, Klara called Nikita thrice and complained.

the release is nearing completion with the quiet closer to hold on to. recorded with a one-take/one-mic approach, the two guitarists guitar away and dmitri sings, this beautiful song.

a wonderful way to end this little accident/experiment... imho.

until work on the next one starts, that is...

more progress. things moving ahead; hopefully this grand prix weekend will not slow us down. although nikita is speeding through the final mixes for Black Waters' exciting debut release as i write this.

as far as m.u. is concerned there is one track that we've been saving.. to record it last minute. which is what we now have to find time to do. which means that 3 tracks are fully recorded and 92% done.

more work accomplished today. looks like "contre temps" and "the fox" will be complete this week - any day now. one more song to go afterwards.

the e.p. will clock in at approx 13 minutes. so don't expect anything grand, at least time-wise. (it is quite the exploration of the psyche, this tentative e.p.)

just to clarify, when u-dot says that the machine is pumping he means that we were running around or something, for a while there, and now we're back at work, or kind of are, on this thing and it seems that we'll finish it on time, as planned.

The heat is interfering with the vocal takes for 'The Fox,' the upcoming e.p.'s (pseudo-?)political epic, uneasiness and anxiety manifest. Dmitri is unusually emotional in his rendering of the poetic today; the M.U. beat machine is pumping; things near completion.

A video has been completed for contre temps. And I'm on break from BW hectic recording/mixing sessions and my head is a strobe.

spent a few hours today adding the pre-finishing touches to 'undone.' the song is starting to come together; choruses got a mean beat inserted into them. we will post snippets as work advances. maybe tonight. maybe, maybe not.

more pragmatic work on "contre temps" today. the beats are starting to fit in. it's starting to come together.

just started mixing a song called "undone" and it's a wreck. loved the unmixed version.. was excited. now i'm somewhat frightened.

we're hopefully both working on the stuff tomorrow. didn't get a chance to do anything earlier this week.

we started recording "contre temps" today. have the beds recorded more or less; i just worked a couple of hours on some of the sonic landscapes (simple stuff: beats, noises?..) it's hard to make it all sound interesting. we'll see how it develops. hopefully we can slip in a session or two this week to get this thing turning.

in other news, dusted off one of the december songs. pleasantly surprised as the mp3 of it that i had was a much earlier demo. actually figured out some of the beats on it - sounding great, no problems there..

possibly samples online soon. but short.

this weekend we recieved a video of our performance last week. no dissapointments. although dmitri looks like he's on happy drugs, but that's mainly because of context which you can't see on a video that's being done from one angle. thanks to Alyssa Ovadis for filming it. check it out by clicking here. big thanks to Laura G for offering to host the file (we originally posted a sub-par quality file due to lack of webspace). if the file is to weighty for you, email us and we'll let you know where to get a lower quality one.

update on PROJET M.U. releases:
* we are wrapping up some academic commitments and will hopefully get back to working on material shortly. two songs were demoed/recorded at the end of december and need some production work before getting mixed (and released?). those songs are different from "contre temps" in two ways 1. they are in english (it happens doesn't it) 2. some will call them pop (compared to a song like "contre temps").
* on the latter point, one of the two songs features a splendid pre-pubescent chorus. we are posting this just to warn you that accidents do happen.. the other song will make you want to..
* more material has been written, we'll just have to figure it all out once we figure out our timeslots properly and get to recording and whatnot.. we'll try and keep things updated here, with some pics, clips or video or something.

on vient de jouer "contre temps" il y a quelques heures. c'était intéressant.. on essayera d'acquerir une copie du vidéo qui a été fait pour possiblement le mettre en ligne. pour l'instant, voici quelques photos de notre performance - merci à Klara Polom de les avoir pris et d'avoir assisté à la soirée.

just played "contre temps" in a debut PROJET M.U. performance a few hours ago. sounded good from our vantage point, we'll see how it sounds on video when and if we get a copy. in the meantime, here's a few pictures taken by the lovely Klara Polom.

projet M.U. will be participating in T2R's soirée de poésie in Montréal, sunday april 17th at 8 PM. admission is free.

the event will be taking place at La Chapelle. M.U. will perform contre temps, an original piece.

they are currently writing debut releases. watch this space for updates.
